Nicaragua denounces coup in Venezuela

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has denounced that a coup d’état has been launched in Venezuela against his counterpart, Nicolás Maduro.

The Nicaraguan leader said that “now they have installed a coup against President Nicolás Maduro where everything that is technological and cybernetic modernity is manipulated, which should serve for good and not for evil.”

Ortega said that his government, which he has presided over since 2007, is completely sure that “in Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chávez is accompanying the people and accompanying Maduro, who were winners, are winners and will be winners.”

The Central American leader made the statements during an event on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Nicaraguan Army Naval Force, held in Managua and broadcast on national television.
