Abinader appoints José Ignacio Paliza as Minister of the Presidency

Santo Domingo, DR.- The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, appointed this Thursday Jose Ignacio Paliza as the new Minister of the Presidency. The information was released by the president through his WhatsApp channel and social networks.

Paliza currently serves as president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and in 2020 appointed by the head of state as administrative minister of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic.

BIOGRAPHY Jose Ignacio Paliza

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on September 1, 1981, he completed his primary education at Colegio San José in Puerto Plata and his secondary education at the Lux Mundi Pre-University in Santo Domingo.

In 2003, it became Doctor of Law, Magna Cum Laude, from the Ibero-American University (UNIBE).

It also has a master in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University, Washington DC (2005); and a Master’s in Business and Public Policy from the School of Law.

He studied at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2006). Likewise, public finance management, at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; Cambridge, Massachusetts (2007).

He received the Medal of Youth Merit, awarded by the Senate of the Dominican Republic and the Youth Ministry in 1999. Likewise, he was awarded in 2017 with the title of Honor to Merit, by the Technological University of Santiago, UTESA, for his notable contributions to the development of his province.

Dominican Delegate to the World Meeting of Future Leaders, held at the United States National Defense University in Washington DC and Presidential Classroom. Since 2011, he has been the Dominican representative to the Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum.

He has the feat of being the youngest Political Secretary of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), reaching this position with just 23 years old.

On August 16, 2010, he was sworn in as a Deputy to the National Congress representing the province of Puerto Plata, being the youngest legislator to occupy a seat in the National Congress of the Dominican Republic.

From that legislative position, he was part of the Political Commission of the Modern Revolutionary Party, being its Political Secretary. In the elections of May 2016, he was elected Senator of the Republic representing the province of Puerto Plata.

At the XVIII Ordinary National Convention “Claudio Caamaño Grullón” of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), held in March 2018, he was elected President and sworn in on June 14 of the same year.

After the victory in the 2020 elections of the PRM headed by President Luis Abinader; in August 2020, he was appointed as Administrative Minister of the Presidency.
