The Petronio Álvarez Festival, recognized as the most outstanding Pacific cultural event in Latin America, reaches its 28th edition with a promise to captivate thousands of attendees, both national and international.

News Cali.

The Petronio Álvarez Festival is not only an event to enjoy, but also a platform for the preservation and promotion of Afro-Colombian culture.

Through music, dance and sustainability, this 28th edition promises to be an unforgettable experience, reaffirming the importance of keeping alive the traditions that have shaped the identity of the Colombian Pacific.

This festival, held in Cali, is a vibrant tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Colombian Pacific region, and on this occasion, brings together more than 2,000 artists and 27 musical groups that will thrill nearly 500,000 people.

Cali Mayor Alejandro Eder highlighted the importance of the festival as a prelude to COP16, underlining the city’s commitment to sustainability.

“We are working to make this a sustainable event, where organic waste is recycled and compost is generated. Our goal is to treat at least 50% of the waste and make a large part of the citadel plastic-free,” said Eder, in an example of how culture and environmental awareness can go hand in hand.

As in every version, the ancestral knowledge of teachers and experts will be at the Germán Patiño Ossa Pedagogical Quilombo. A valuable space to learn and recognize our ancestral practices.
