Epidemiologist Pablo González refers to the international emergency issued by the WHO for monkeypox. He indicated that this alert is so that countries that have not been affected can prepare and prevent the spread of the disease.
He urged the population to undergo testing if they have any symptoms, since Panama has laboratories for these monkeypox tests.
He noted that only four cases of monkeypox have been identified in Panama this year. “We must break the chain of transmission.”
The most common symptoms of monkeypox are fever, headache, skin problems, and in Panama the most common way of contracting the disease is through sexual contact, he said.
