The second National Multi-Hazard Drill of the year was established in Ministerial Resolution No. 013-2022-PCM. The objective of strengthening the preparation and response capacities of the entities comprising the National Disaster Risk Management System (Sinagerd) and of the citizens to respond efficiently and in a timely manner to the presentation of hazards of natural origin or induced by human action.
What is the purpose of drills?
Drills are practical action exercises that are carried out in a probable emergency or disaster situation in order to strengthen the capacities of the entities comprising Sinagerd and the population in the event of an emergency or disaster situation.
Drills involve the mobilization of personnel and resources, thus allowing the evaluation of both the effectiveness and efficiency of the Emergency Operations Plans, Contingency Plans, Business Continuity Plans, protocols and procedures of the members.
What time will the exercise take place?
The exercise will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 3 p.m. and will be held in commemoration of the earthquake of August 15, 2007 which mainly affected the Ica region and left 595 people dead, 2,291 people injured, 76,000 homes destroyed and uninhabitable, and 431,000 people affected.
