Angie Quintero She had her birthday two months ago, so a friend prepared a surprise for her to celebrate her special day. The girl’s friend brought a cake decorated with candles and balloons; the moment she lit the candle to celebrate my birthday, the balloons burst in my face.
“There were 3 balloons, but they made a lot of fire and the explosion was very strong. The first thing I did was go to the bathroom to wash my face because I felt a lot of burning and when I looked at myself my skin was falling off in pieces.”the young woman revealed to Noticias Caracol.
The reason for the explosion came from the fact that the balloons were inflated with artisanal hydrogensa mixture of several chemicals that are highly flammable when in contact with heat. The unexpected event caused the young birthday girl deep burns on his face, although there was no respiratory or visual impairment, and he is currently in the recovery stage.

“This could have been worse, my eyelids were burned, but I could have gone blind.”said the young woman about the home accident she suffered due to a characteristic that, according to the Noticias Caracol report, nearly 80% of the floating balloons inflated in Colombia have.
Apparently, some gift shops in the market inflate balloons with homemade hydrogen instead of helium, in search of economy and greater profits. «Cheaper is not better»said the young woman affected by the explosion.
“Balloons are worthless, but you go to the dermatologist and the creams they prescribe you are expensive,” the young woman expressed about the episode she suffered a couple of months ago.
