SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- A Cuban native of Guantánamo, and resident for years in Havana, was murdered on Tuesday night during the popular festivities preceding the San Joaquín Carnival 2024, to be held from August 15 to 18.
A man known as “Negrón,” who lived on 1st Street South, between 3rd and 4th West, was stabbed by another Cuban. According to what was confirmed CubaNetthe victim had gone to his hometown for the celebrations popular, when the tragedy occurred.
One of the accounts offered by eyewitnesses of the incident indicates that the deceased accidentally collided with an ex-convict, identified as Pito, a resident of the “La Loma del Chivo” neighborhood. Although the former offered his apologies, Pito did not accept them and stabbed him, puncturing a lung.

This event took place in the recreation area located on Carlos Manuel Street, corner of Pinto, in the middle of a crowd of people gathered.
Although the carnival has not officially started, the festive atmosphere has permeated the city for several days. There are establishments selling food and alcohol and little or no police surveillance.
People who were around the victim at the time of his death report that the attacker was under the influence of alcohol and some opioid.
One of the sources who offered his testimony to CubaNetwho requested anonymity, said that the victim had arrived at the Carlos Manuel and Pinto area, coming from the Pedro Agustín Pérez Multipurpose Plaza, around 2:00 am.
When he met up with some acquaintances from his old neighborhood, he started buying beer and dancing, and that’s when he tripped and collided with Pito, who attacked him from behind with a knife. Later, two other attackers joined in and stabbed the emigrant to Havana.

The 33-year-old victim was stabbed by her stepson. According to sources consulted by CubanetThe incident occurred when Nápoles was trying to mediate a domestic dispute between the murderer and his partner in the neighborhood known as Los Guerra, in Martí Oeste.
“He wanted to stop his stepson from hitting his girlfriend, that’s why he killed him,” said Yulia Matos, a local resident. The killer is called Ronerkis Casternaux Elias and is 25 years old.
After committing the crime, he fled the scene, but was eventually arrested by the police. “He arrived dead at the clinic. The boy went crazy, it seems he was high, because after he killed his stepfather he wanted to kill his grandmother, who raised him,” explained a neighbor known as La China.
