Actress Amarilys Núñez denounces Customs robbery: “There is no law or order in Cuba”

AREQUIPA, Peru – Renowned Cuban actress Amarilys Núñez on Wednesday denounced the abuses committed by the General Customs Office of the Republic to which travelers on the island are exposed.

In a publication On Facebook, the artist explained how customs workers at Varadero airport stole the products she had sent to her family. “I’m sorry, but I can’t stay away from reporting this,” she wrote.

According to him, last week while he was in Canada to visit a niece and her relatives, he took the opportunity to buy his mother in Cuba some hams and chorizos “that she likes so much.”

Núñez points out that it was not the first time that he had bought these types of products to take them or have them delivered to the Island. In this regard, he explains that they do not constitute a violation or an infraction. of some regulations because the food was all vacuum sealed.

“Last night my sister arrived at the Varadero airport, and there they miserably robbed her, ‘confiscating’ everything that my work and effort bought for my mother,” the actress emphasizes.

To justify the theft, the artist says, customs officials claimed that the products purchased at the Montreal supermarket did not bear the Canadian stamp.

“The watchword in Cuba is stealing. Exercising the meager power that customs officers have to steal from honest people who work very hard. In Cuba there is no law or order. In Cuba they know nothing of honesty. In Cuba, morality, justice, and values ​​have run out. It is a shame for the country. It is a pain in the heart of every Cuban who today feels ashamed of being one,” Núñez stressed.

According to the popular actressher indignation at this event is infinite and the only thing she regrets is not having been the one to enter through Varadero airport. “I would surely be in prison today,” she says.

Amarilys Núñez, who for years was a very popular face in Cuban theater, television and film, has lived in the United States for about a decade.
