The deputy of the 2nd constituency of the National District, Tobías Crespo, underwent emergency surgery for a stone that was obstructing his urinary tract, at the Center for Diagnosis and Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (Cedimat) in this capital.
The congressman, who was chosen as a representative in the National Council of the Judiciary (CNM) by the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, suffered severe pain and was immediately taken by his family to the aforementioned health center.
After several tests, the deputy underwent laser surgery by urologist Wally Abreu. His operation was performed on Monday evening and he was discharged on Tuesday, and is currently at home recovering.
His election as a member of the CNM
Tobias Crespo was chosen as the representative of the organization led by former President Leonel Fernandez in the CNM, since that party holds the second majority in the Chamber of Deputies. Tobias is a Computer and Telecommunications Engineer from APEC University, Master in Business Administration and Master in Marketing Management from PCUMM, Bachelor in Law from the University of the Third Age UTE and with Diplomas in International Trade and Supervision PUCMM, Political Control of Government Management IDEA International-Chamber of Deputies, Political Sciences at UASD, leadership at Harvard University-IGlobal, among other studies.
Since 2010 he has been a Deputy for District 2 of the National District. He has been a member and president of the Permanent Commission on Public Works and Road Communications, Vice President of the Permanent Commission on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), and member of the Permanent Commission on Energy and Mines.
He also chaired the Permanent Commission on Contracts and currently serves as a member of the Commissions on Energy and Mines, Education, Public Administration, Public Debt and Financial Assets.
He is the author and proponent of Law 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transportation, Traffic and Road Safety, Law 35-18 that declares September 23 of each year as the National Day of the Athlete with a Disability and Law 193-19 that makes the Images of the Founding Fathers Official as Unique and Mandatory in all public institutions and State institutions.
Since 2010, he has participated and contributed to more than 100 laws that have been approved in the Dominican Republic, most of which have been adapted to the Constitution.
In the Social and Community area, he is a recognized leader, working in the sectors of the National District in coordination with the leaders of the Neighborhood Board, Sports Clubs, Merchants Associations, Religious Entities and civil society groups in general.
