The Archbishop of Santiago spoke after delivering the homily at the Mass on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (Edenorte), in the Santiago Apóstol Cathedral, headed by the institution’s manager Andrés Cueto and Governor Rosa Santos, among other local and national officials.
Monsignor Rodriguez said that the most ideal thing is that the Attorney General of the Republic be chosen by the National Council of the Judiciary to prevent him from appointing the president in office. He pointed out that if a prosecutor is appointed by the President, it will be difficult for him to prosecute if he makes a mistake while in office.
He considers it healthy that the Public Prosecutor’s Office be led by someone who brings confidence and credibility to Dominican society.
During the homily, the bishop highlighted the work carried out by Edenorte as a company committed to national progress and well-being. He said that it works tirelessly to bring energy to millions of homes, industries and commercial establishments in the northern region of the country. “Edenorte Dominicana, more than a company, is a family, with teamwork being one of its values,” he said.
Cueto said that in the 25 years since its founding, they have been bringing energy to every corner of the 14 provinces of Cibao, to 69 municipalities and 101 municipal districts.
He said he was grateful to celebrate his four years of efficient and transparent management and thanked President Luis Abinader for his support.
