Santo Domingo, DR. – The president of Suriname Chandrikapersad Santokhi arrived in the country tonight to attend the swearing-in of the second term of the president Luis Abinader at the head of the Dominican Republic.
Santokhi arrived on Dominican soil at 7:03 pm through the José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of the Americas, together with his wife Melissa Santokhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Albert R. Ramdin and a delegation to attend the event next August 16th.
The President of the South American nation was received by the Director of State Ceremonies and Protocol, Ambassador Francisco José Cantizano Nadal; the Deputy Director of the Airport Department, Luis Cabrera; the Colonel of the Air Force, Pavel Martínez Arias; the Colonel and Pilot of the Air Force, María Alcántara and the diplomatic liaison with Suriname, Ivonne Hermida.
The swearing-in of the president Abinader will be held in the Eduardo Brito National Theatre, leaving President Abinader at the head of the country until 2028, allowing him to continue with the public policies of his current administration.
More presidents will arrive for inauguration
This Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15, more leaders will continue to arrive to attend the swearing-in of Luis Abinader for his presidential term of the period 2024-2028.
As usual, on August 16th every fourth month the swearing-in ceremony of the new president of the nation takes place.
