The head of the VIII Tacna Departmental Command of the General Fire Corps of Peru, Walter Sánchez Esquiche, said that they are waiting for the Regional Government to finance a 70 million project for the equipment and purchase of vehicles for said institution.

He recalled that the equipment and vehicles that firefighters have in Tacna have already reached the end of their useful life 10 years ago. Donations were received from other countries that alleviated the needs of firefighters to some extent, but they are still insufficient, he said.
Project to renew equipment was completed
He reported that the project has been completed with the approval of the General Fire Department of Peru and has been delivered to the general management of the Regional Government of Tacna for processing its financing.
The project includes, in the first stage, the purchase of clothing and oxygen equipment for 150 personnel. Subsequently, the purchase of vehicles will be carried out, including four fire engines, eight ambulances, a telescopic ladder, a heavy rescue vehicle and two light rescue vehicles. Four vehicles are inoperative in Tacna.

There are currently four firefighting vehicles that are not in operation. He said that the idea was to finalize the purchase of the vehicles by the end of the year to supply the different companies in the region.
Charity event to help firefighters
In order to support the firefighters, the charity event “Put your heart in a Tacna firefighter” will be held on Wednesday, August 21 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Municipal Theater, with invited groups. To enter, attendees must bring a nonperishable food item and/or a cleaning product.
