The volume of services in the country increased by 1.7% in June this year, compared to May. With this result, the sector reached its highest level in the historical series, which began in 2012.
Data from the Monthly Services Survey (PMS) were released this Tuesday (13) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The sector is 0.5% above the previous record level, registered in December 2022, and 14.3% above the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level, that is, February 2020.
Compared to June last year, the sector grew by 1.3%. Increases were also observed in the accumulated figures for the year 2024 (1.6%) and for the 12-month period (1%).
The five service activities surveyed by IBGE showed an increase from May to June: transport (1.8%), information and communication (2%), professional, administrative and complementary (1.3%), other services (1.6%) and services provided to families (0.3%).
Nominal revenue increased by 2.7% compared to May this year, 6.3% compared to June 2023, 5.8% in the year to date and 4.9% in the 12-month period.
