The Mexican club Monterrey has appointed the Argentine as its technical director Martin Demichelis without clarifying the duration of the contract. Local media reports that the Argentine coach signed a two-year contract. Demichelis arrives at the “Rayados” of Monterrey after leaving River Plate, a club he managed for a year and a half and with which he won three titles.
“After training in Europe, both in Spain and at Bayern Munich, and after being a multi-champion as technical director at River Plate in Argentina, today begins a new challenge for Martín Demichelis as technical director of Rayados,” the Mexican club said in a brief statement. “Welcome to Club de Fútbol Monterrey, Martín! Let’s scratch your story in Blue and White,” it added.
Demichelis, 43, joins the Mexican team to replace Argentine Fernando ‘Tano’ Ortiz, who was dismissed on August 6, three days after the Mexican club was eliminated in the group stage of the Leagues Cup, a tournament contested by teams from the Mexican League and the MLS.
