The residents of Cullpa in the district of El Tambo are fighting over a drainage project. After a confrontation that took place on August 11, the residents of Unión Cullpa arrived today at the Municipality of El Tambo, seeking explanations from the mayor, César Llallico, since according to them he promised to support them, however, on Sunday he met with another sector that is against the drainage project and they are the ones who attacked them.

The drainage project, self-financed by the residents of Unión Cullpa, is the reason for the division of the population of Cullpa. While one sector disagrees with the project, the other side of the coin is a population that has been waiting for water suitable for human consumption for more than 30 years.
“In Cullpa all the children get sick because the people who have sewage don’t care that we don’t have it, we have to live with that stench”said a mother. That is why the members of Unión Cullpa carried out activities to self-finance the construction of the drainage system. According to their story, they asked for a technical file from Mayor César Llallico, who promised to give it to them and even sent engineers who approved the work.

On Sunday, August 11, residents of Unión Cullpa held an activity to raise money for the drainage project, while Mayor César Llallico met with another sector of Cullpa. Members of Unión Cullpa claim that in the afternoon they were attacked by other citizens who are against the project, since the mayor apparently told them to close the holes.
Following the incident, on Monday, October 12, the residents of Cullpa arrived at the El Tambo Municipality to ask the mayor for explanations. Another sector of Cullpa, who do not want the project to be carried out, also arrived at the same place. The protesters arrived in search of the mayor with dirty water, which many of them have in their homes, and with signs written: “Llallico, don’t let yourself be manipulated”, “Llallico keeps your word” and “Llallico traitor”
