AEBU, the official banking sector, will carry out a march to Punta del Este on February 25 to demand collective bargaining in the framework of the discussion of the new wage agreement. Likewise, they request the entry of personnel, that the outsourced and privatized ones be considered as vacancies to be filled and the inclusion of the National Housing Agency (ANV) in the collective agreement of the official bank.
After the AEBU announcements, the mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, questioned the different measures of the banking union. He said that it was a bad decision not to replace the ATMs because it harmed the business and the worker, he also questioned the decision to “slow down the payment of checks.”
Antía added that the “grave of the trade union movement” would be to carry out the “threat” of paralyzing the economy for ten days.
Out of place
While in the last hours, the Fernandino head of government stated that it is out of place to carry out a mobilization towards Punta del Este at a time when both the tourism sector and commerce seek to recover some of the wages lost in a year and a half.
Antía also assured that it is possible to apply a police device, to prevent the entrance of the march with trucks and buses to Punta del Este, just on a Friday of Carnival.
