The drinking water service in the El Pao de Barcelona parish, in the Francisco de Miranda municipality, south of Anzoátegui, was suspended after they had to stop the plant due to an oil spill in the San Ramón subdivision.
This was reported by Mayor Ángel Vásquez through a statement published on his social media accounts in which he explained that the staff of Petróleos de Venezuela SA (Pdvsa), Ayacucho Division, began the sanitation work last Sunday, August 11.
He indicated that the works would be carried out near the El Pao River, which supplies the Andrés Martínez water plant.
The mayor said that the plant will be shut down for five days, starting on Sunday, and warned that the communities affected by the lack of water are those in the parishes of Pariaguán and El Pao.
The mayor asked the population to take necessary measures while the contingency lasts.
