From January to July this year, the motorcycle industry installed in the Manaus Industrial Hub (PIM) reached the mark of 1,015,201 units produced, an increase of 14.4% compared to the same period in 2023. It is the best result for the period since 2012.
Specifically in July, 147,125 motorcycles were produced, an increase of 19.7% compared to July 2023 and 38.4% compared to June this year. The result for July was the best recorded for the month in 14 years, according to data released this Monday (12) by the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles and Similar (Abraciclo).
The association’s president, Marcos Bento, said that the two-wheel industry in Manaus continues to meet its production plans, which explains the positive results in the first seven months of the year. “However, the expectation of drought in the Amazon region for the coming months of the year will require increased attention from the sector,” he said. To prevent production from being affected by climate effects, the factories in the Manaus Industrial Hub are implementing their contingency plans to meet the planned production volumes and, thus, maintain the supply of the two-wheel product line to the market, which is booming due to the improvement in the economy.
In the retail sector, from January to July, according to Abraciclo, 1,090,088 motorcycles were licensed, 20.7% above the total for the same period in 2023. This is the best licensing performance since 2008 and the second best performance in the history of the segment. The models most sought after by consumers and which stood out in licensing are Street (48.4% market share), followed by the Trail model (18%) and scooter (17.4%).
Abraciclo also reported that the average daily motorcycle sales in July, which had 23 business days, was 6,823 units throughout Brazil. Associated industries exported 3,318 units in July, an increase of 4.5% compared to July last year and 50.6% compared to June this year.
