Juan Pablo Navarrete assures that despite the numerous discontents within Morena and the mobilization registered in the National Morenista Convention, there is no real risk for Mario Delgado, since his best defense card is the results obtained in his leadership that began in October 2020.
“Mario’s electoral balance last year was very favorable in terms of governorships, city councils, deputies, in general his electoral performance as a leader was very good… I do not see that Delgado’s leadership could be in danger, I think they are only voices who are asking to be heard”, he maintains.
Under the leadership of Mario Delgado, Morena strengthened and expanded its strength and governments. The party went from seven to 17 governorships, winning 10 and repeating one in the 2021 elections. In millions, the party governs 58 million Mexicans, is the first force in the Congress of the Union and has a majority in 18 congresses local.
The general secretary, Citlalli Hernández, recognizes the differences and disagreements within Morena, however, she considers that the most complicated stage has already passed.
“When Mario and your servant assumed the leadership, we had a party with a very agitated internal life, very confrontational. We closed last year in different conditions, with a more stable party, more articulated, with greater institutionality, with a clear route, with a more defined action plan for the coming years, with conditions to strengthen the institutional framework,” he said in an interview.
Faced with the disagreements, Mario Delgado has assured that there will be a change in the leadership, but it will be after the 2023 elections, as established by the party’s statutes. Meanwhile, Morena will have to continue with internal confrontations and calls to recover the game.
“The purpose is to close the year with more governors, with a more solid party, with greater territorial capacity, with greater incidence in public discussion, with a greater number of trained cadres, with new leaderships and in conditions to fight the battles that will come later. which will be the election of Coahuila, State of Mexico and 2024”, says Hernández.
