Aida de Maduro, former member of the CSS Board of Directors, talks about the Disability, Old Age and Death Fund (IVM) and said that it is necessary to make greater contributions because life expectancy has increased.
“We are receiving a 60% return when we are only contributing 9% of our salaries to the pension system. There is no mathematical way that we can live longer after retirement,” said Maduro.
We need a restructuring of the institution since the IVM is only one part of what needs to be solved. A review of the contributions made must be done because if someone started paying with a very low salary, their retirement will never be enough, he said.
