In its last epidemiological part, the Ministry of Health of the Nation reported that this Friday, February 18, a total of 15,389 new infections and 138 deaths related to the coronavirus in all the countrya reduction of 1,261 cases and 22 deaths compared to the previous day.
Despite this drop in the daily incidence rate, Argentina today surpassed the barrier of 8.8 million infections of coronavirus and now it accumulates 8,815,247 cases. This figure positions the country in 11th place in the world ranking as one of the nations most affected by viral disease.
In addition, the total rate of deaths from coronavirus stood at 125,062 victims since March 8, 2020, when the first person in the country died as a result of the virus.
For its part, in the last 24 hours, some 25,743 people were discharged after having overcome the symptoms of respiratory infection, with which the total recovered rose to 8,543,777.
For the moment, there are 146,408 active cases of coronavirus across the country, of which 1,645 are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU). This means that the hospital occupancy rate, at the national level, stands at 44.3% and 42.7% in the AMBA.
Cases by jurisdictions
The highest daily incidence of the virus was accumulated in the Province of Buenos Aires (6,679), Córdoba (1,701), Santa Fe (1,331) and CABA (1,324), with more than a thousand positive cases each. While in the rest the cases were distributed as follows:

How the vaccination campaign progresses in Argentina
Until the 5:00 p.m. cutoff, some 40,160,658 Argentine men and women had received the first dose of vaccines against coronavirus throughout the country, which translates into 88.4% of the target population.
