The Luis N. Saenz Police Hospital, located in Jesús María, Lima, is, like all PNP hospitals, for police officers and their families. However, at the end of July a woman died after undergoing liposuction, an intervention that is not performed at the hospital, which is funded by the State.
According to a report by Punto Final, the case puts the Luis N. Saenz Police Hospital and alleged malpractice in private cosmetic surgeries under scrutiny.
The victim was identified as Sara Salas, 42, according to a confidential police statement. She died on July 31.
On the day of her admission, the victim reportedly reported her familiarity with Juan Jose Regalado, a police officer who retired in 1994 and is registered as married. For the police, this detail indicates that Sara was admitted as a cohabitant to justify her intervention. However, there was no de facto union, so it is considered that this would be a case of aesthetic service for a private person.

A person can be treated at the police hospital without being a member of the institution or a family member. According to specialists, an emergency case is the only way of admission.
The Sunday paper obtained documents that show that the victim died due to poor handling of the cannulas during the operation.
An anesthesiologist who did not work for the hospital was also present at the operation. At the time of writing, the hospital director did not want to give his explanation.
