Escarrá said that the minutes have not been presented because the National Electoral Council platform suffered “technological attacks”
Hermann Escarrá, constitutionalist and deputy of the National Assembly with a pro-government majority, called for respect for the decision taken by the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) on the contentious appeal filed by Nicolás Maduro in relation to the results of the presidential elections of July 28.
The lawyer defended the jurisdiction of the judiciary and said that for now what is required is to “follow the procedures established in various regulations.”
Escarrá justified that until now the minutes have not been published due to alleged “technological attacks on the CNE platform.”
However, he stressed: “TONow what is true is that the people of Venezuela have to see the records. There is a lapse, but it is for the Electoral Power, of 30 days. Obviously we are not even halfway there yet, but –in any case- the minutes must be presented inexorably. for the credibility and security of the legal and democratic vote.”

In an interview with Venevision On Sunday, August 11, Escarrá also referred to the position of the Carter Center’s Electoral Observation Mission regarding voting in the country, at this point saying that it was “impossible” to hack the Venezuelan electoral system.
For Escarrá, “these are officials (the observers), especially the one who made the statement, from the United States State Department. Furthermore, playing it ahead of time only loses credibility.”
TO SuchWhich the head of that observation mission, Jeannie Lincolnassured him that “at this moment we can see that there is enough information from the tables. The CNE has not announced enough data to say what a true number is in this election.”
On the possibility of a repeat election, Hermann Escarrá said that “There is already a statement from the people of Venezuela. Let us hope, I am very confident that the decision of the Electoral Chamber will clarify many issues that could be controversial at this time.
After accepting the appeal filed by Maduro, the TSJ asked the CNE to present the minutes of the vote count. Then, on August 5, the electoral body appeared before the Court to submit the requested documents and the beginning of “the process of appraisal of the submitted material for a period of up to fifteen (15) days, extendable” was declared.
This week, the TSJ summoned the candidates and party representatives to appear before the CNE. On Saturday 10, the president of the Electoral Chamber, Caryslia Rodríguez, announced that the court will continue with the expert appraisal and declared the contempt of Edmundo González Urrutia, presidential candidate of the Unitary Platform, who did not appear nor submit any electoral material.
