When Daiana entered the Pereira Rossell Hospital vaccination center, the first thing she asked was the name of the vaccine her children would receive. On the right hand side, in the second room of the corridor, the vaccinator was waiting for them. To the side, on a shelf, Pfizer pediatric injections already ready.
“This is Sinovac, isn’t it?” she asked, confused.
-No. It is the Pfizer that is given to all children.
–Oh! Pfizer I wanted to tell you.
The vaccinator asked if the minors had received a vaccine in the last 14 days, to which Daiana, somewhat nervous, explained the case: “They received the Sinovac by mistake,” she said, pointing to Neyén, the first brave 10-year-old who he sat down in an armchair and asked in which arm he should receive the new dose. Then her brother Inti passed by, 8, who was also vaccinated, but did not want to accept the ice cream that all vaccinated receive before leaving.
After a error that reached 158 children On February 1st at the Universal Medical Society vaccination center, the minors were rescheduled so that this Friday they are administered the dose of Pfizer that they originally should have received. The management in the coordination of the agenda was carried out by the ministry itself, reported from the portfolio.
In Daiana’s case, her solution after the inconvenience was to call the insurance company. Receiving no response, she contacted the Ministry of Public Health and received a message on Tuesday with information on the date and time of vaccination.
“I chose the Universal because it is 15 minutes from my house. One was confident that it was the Pfizer, but (it is) a pity. Luckily nothing happened to them, because it was well discounted, but if not… I found out ( of the error) by my sister, because my nephew also had that one (the Sinovac), and they called her right away. They didn’t call me and I said ‘maybe in one of those zafe because it was at a different time’. Another day, to get rid of my doubts, I called and they told me that they had also given the Sinovac to my children,” he said.

The mother told The Observer that their children did not present any discomfort after being vaccinated. “They don’t understand a lot, but I still asked them every so often if something hurt them, and no, nothing,” she assured. Despite the inconvenience, she added, they returned in search of revenge: “Sometimes one is capable of being afraid of seeing the reaction, but it is for their safety, so that they do not miss school and that everything is fine.”
The 158 minors mistakenly vaccinated with the Chinese injection were rescheduled to be treated at the Pereira Rossell Hospital vaccination center, a “flagship,” according to the Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas.
It was in the place where the vaccination of children between 5 and 11 years of age began on January 12. So far there are almost 15,000 who received their pediatric dose in that center.
Those vaccinated by mistake were given a fifth of a dose of the Chinese vaccine, instead of their proper dose: the Pfizer pediatric vaccine.
