Fecoopnordeste invites cooperative members to rethink the business model

Fecoopnordeste invita a cooperativistas a repensar el modelo de negocios

Punta Cana, La Altagracia.- The Federation of Cooperatives of the Northeast (Fecoopnordeste) inaugurated this weekend its fifth congress under the theme “A new cooperative movement facing a new economic reality, rethinking our business model”, with the aim of raising the knowledge and training of cooperative leaders and delegates.

Within the framework of the activity, David Polanco Estrella, president of Fecoopnordeste, called on the sector to develop initiatives where the products and services of cooperatives are increasingly oriented towards contributing to the integral development of their associates and communities.

“To be relevant and a trend-setter in business, it is not enough to have cutting-edge technological tools, or to offer the best prices and fast services, but you also have to have a positive impact on people’s emotions; it is not about selling them services, it is about providing them with solutions, giving them the best experience,” he said.

Polanco Estrella also stressed that “nothing gives people more satisfaction than when they feel cared for, loved and respected. This is how cooperatives should make our members feel, but we do not say this as a marketing strategy to attract followers, rather this is our essence, to satisfy needs, and these needs are not always economic, human beings need to feel valued.”

The conclave took place on August 2, 3, and 4 at a hotel in Punta Cana, in the province of La Altagracia, with the participation of national and international experts, with the main speaker being the president of ACI World, Dr. Ariel Guarco.

Other speakers include José Gabriel Montalvo Eguez, CEO of Friedrich Consulting Group; Julio Davis Arias Añazgo, from Peru; Marco Iván San Juan Romero, executive of Equifax; Félix Lovera, professor at the National University of Córdoba in Argentina; Michele Franqui Baquero, executive president of Camuy Cooperativa de Puerto Rico; the economist and former head of the General Directorate of Internal Revenue (DGII) Magín Díaz, and Rafael Narcizo Vargas Rodríguez, president of the La Altagracia Savings and Credit Cooperative.

The event was held under the auspices of Equifax, PM Electromuebles, TruStage, and the Maimón Savings and Credit Cooperative (Coompmaimon).

The opening ceremony of the congress that brings together cooperative members was also attended by the deputy and ad-vitam president of the National Council of Cooperatives (Conacoop), Julito Fulcar, Franco de los Santos, president of the Institute for Cooperative Development and Credit (IDECOOP), Ramón Antonio Díaz, vice president of Fecoopnordeste, Cosme Damían Sánchez, past president of Fecoopnordeste, Eufracia Gómez Morillo, president of Conacoop, Lisandro Muñoz, president of Fencoopsegud, Yudelka Báez, president of Fedocoop, Alejandra Canario, executive director of the National Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives and Related, among other personalities from the cooperative sector.
