Sentence awaited in case involving former minister and former miss for suitcases belonging to drug trafficker Dorado

The final verdict is awaited in a Santa Cruz court in a controversial case. Only the judge was present at the hearing Claudia Liliana Rodríguez Espitia, the Colombian citizen accused of money laundering. The case dates back to 2010. This is the judicial story

According to the Felcn and the Prosecutor’s Office, the accusation for oral trial dates back to December 29, 2010. The Prosecutor’s Office accused Colombian Claudia Liliana Rodríguez Espitia, American businessman Jacob Ostreicher, and two other people who were removed from the process due to the extinction of the action, of money laundering of illicit profits.

Claudia Liliana Rodríguez Espitia attended the closing hearing. According to the Prosecutor’s Office and the Felcn, it is accused of moving almost 30 million dollars. She, through her lawyer Álvaro La Torre, maintained her innocence, arguing that these funds are legal investments.

The drug lords

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the main defendants for drug trafficking and criminal organization have been declared rebels, but are in prison in other countries. They are Maximiliano Dorado Muñoz Filho and Jhon Wilson Díaz. The first, of Brazilian nationality, has been in Santa Cruz since 2010.

Five years ago he was detained in Paraguay for drug trafficking. Felcn reports revealed that Wilson Díaz is responsible for sending 944 kilos of cocaine to Spain, in a narcojet that took off from a military airport in Argentina.

The First Court declared Dorado and John Wilson Diaz rebels; they will not be included in the sentence to be handed down.

The only one who is attending the trial is Claudia Liliana Rodríguez, but is being tried for money laundering.

The trial will conclude on the 21st of this month, where Rodriguez is being tried for the movement of almost 30 million dollars of dubious origin. According to the Felcn and the Prosecutor’s Office, Rodriguez had ties to Dorado.

The Felcn and the Prosecutor’s Office record that on October 30, 2009, a check for 100 thousand dollars was drawn from Rodríguez’s account for a payment to Díaz, which was cashed by a former mayor of Warnes.
