He Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) announced the arrival this Sunday, at 6:00 p.m., of the Olympic medalists Marileidy PaulinoCristian Pinales and Yúnior Alcántara for the Las Americas International Airport, Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez.
Through an informative note, signed by engineer Garibaldy Bautista and attorney Luis Chanlatte, president and general secretary of the COD, respectively, the entire town is invited to join the great celebration in honor of the outstanding athletes.
The COD, together with the Ministry of Sports, is preparing a grand reception for the performance of the Dominican delegation at the XXXIII Olympic Games that conclude this Sunday in Paris, France.
“We want to welcome our Olympic medallists and the entire delegation as heroes. They did a great job in elevating the country to the top at the Paris Olympics,” the statement said.
Marileidy Paulino won the gold medalwith an Olympic record, in the 400-meter dash, while Cristian Pinales, in the -80 kilos, and Yúnior Alcántara, in the 51 kilos, each won bronze medals in the boxing tournament.
The athletes, along with some of the COD directors and the mission chief, will arrive on Air Europa. Upon their arrival in Dominican territory, a meeting with the press is planned at the airport and then a caravan.
