Creg listens to users and authorities in the Caribbean to strengthen tariff regulation

This Saturday, the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (Creg) participated in a meeting at the Governorate of Atlántico, in Barranquilla.

This meeting was attended by energy user associations, control representatives, energy generators, congressmen from Atlántico, the Superintendent of Public Services, Dagoberto Quiroga and the Minister of Mines and Energy, Andrés Camacho. The main objective of the meeting was foster an open dialogue to listen to Caribbean users and strengthen tariff regulation.

The Creg was represented by commissioned experts William Mercado and Fanny Guerrero, who shared their perspectives from the Caribbean region.

Their presence highlights the Creg’s commitment to the participation of all actors
on the regulatory agenda, ensuring that decisions are made with broad input
citizen.

What the Government is right about, after two years, is that it goes to those meetingsn technicians and the head of the energy portfoliowhich at least sends a message of seriousness on the part of the National Government.

This is not the last meeting. The Creg announced that it will organize technical meetings in the region to discuss tariffs and other pending resolutions. Furthermore, in its collegial role, it reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a constructive dialogue and to considering all comments in order to improve the resolutions it issues.

The Colombian Caribbean region faces serious challenges in terms of energy servicescharacterized by decades of ‘unholy’ handling by service providers and users who connect to the service illegally, but the phenomenon is not exclusive to subnormal areas.
