The departmental legislator addressed the plenary session of the Departmental Council, which unanimously approved his claims, in the following terms:
Route No. 53: With a length of 54 km, Route No. 53 runs through the center of the department of Colonia in a south-north direction, starting from the roundabout located at kilometer 118.600 of Route 1, passing through Nueva Helvecia, crossing the Mugglin Pass, and continuing through Barrancas Coloradas, Costa de Rosario, Zunín and rural areas to the north, ending at kilometer 121.850 of Route 12.
By Executive Decree No. 636/993, the section between Nueva Helvecia and Route 12 was removed from the national jurisdiction of the MTOP, passing to departmental jurisdiction, and according to the Rural Road Coding System implemented in 2018, it was broken down into three departmental sections.
The condition of this road is highly deteriorated, which is why we are asking the Executive, at the request of local residents, to proceed with its repair, entrusting the monitoring to the Works Commission.
Lights at the entrance to Artilleros
Recently, a criminal incident took place in Artilleros, a botched robbery that luckily did not result in any injuries, but if a larger section of Camino Jorge Sanguinetti had been illuminated, at the entrance from Juan Lacaze to the resort, the surveillance camera system would have been able to more clearly see the criminals we are referring to, whose movements were detected by the cameras.
Crimes are not necessarily committed after careful and calculated thought, but rather because of opportunistic and reckless behaviour. Many criminals break the law without premeditation, impulsively when the opportunity presents itself. In addition to allowing for better identification with the video surveillance system, better lighting of public spaces induces criminals to refrain from taking advantage of opportunities that they do not necessarily replace in other ways or at other times. Therefore, at the request of the residents of the resort, we are going to require the installation of four lights at the entrance to Artilleros from Juan Lacaze, in order to have a section of around 400 metres illuminated, up to the first steep slope, and we entrust the follow-up to the Works Commission.
