The Media Law was approved

In the early hours of Thursday 8th, the Bill regulating the media (radio, over-the-air channels and pay-per-view television) was finally approved.

Deputy Martín Melazzi (Colorado Party, Soriano) was the main speaker in the lower house representing the government coalition to defend a Project, whose main spirit is to protect sources of employment, due to the fierce competition that these media outlets suffer today, especially those in the interior of the country, due to technological convergence.
Melazzi stated that “the President of the Republic called him expressly to thank him for the professionalism with which he had acted in the study and defense of the referred Project on behalf of the governing coalition, as well as to congratulate him for his integrity as a legislator.”

He also stressed that “in order to strengthen democracy, we must continue working to defend freedoms.”
