Américo De Grazia’s daughter, María, reported that her father is being held at the Sebin headquarters in El Helicoide in Caracas

María De Grazia, daughter of opposition political leader and former deputy of the National Assembly 2015, Américo De Grazia, denounced on her social networks on the night of August 8 that her father is “kidnapped” in El Helicoide; one of the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin).

“After more than 24 hours without knowing his whereabouts (…), we found out (that) they have him in El Helicoide (…). We don’t know what charges are brought against him. They don’t have an arrest warrant against my dad, we don’t have proof of life, we don’t know in what conditions they have him,” denounced De Grazia’s daughter through Instagram.

She said the former parliamentarian was being persecuted following the elections of July 28 and said he had lost contact with his father on Wednesday at noon, after failing to show up for an appointment with her.

The political organization Guayana Libre warned on the morning of Thursday, August 8th that the leader of that group and former deputy of the National Assembly 2015, Américo de Grazia, has been missing for more than 24 hours.

Through its account on the social network X, Guayana Libre indicated that De Grazia’s children were the ones who reported the disappearance of the former parliamentarian and hold President Nicolás Maduro responsible for whatever may happen to him.

on Wednesday July 31st In Upata, digital posters with the design “Wanted” were circulating through WhatsApp groups and other social networks with photographs of Eduardo Zaraza, leader of AD, Cecilia Espejo de Vente and Américo De Grazia, from Guayana Libre, accused of being the articulators of all the spontaneous protests registered in the last hours in the town.

In general terms, they report that the city is immersed in a kind of “tense calm”, with little citizen movement, many businesses closed and others working with the shutters half open, waiting for the threats from pro-government groups to diminish and for the return of tranquility that will allow them to reactivate and energize the daily life of the place.

Américo De Grazia, one of those wanted, said that they shared the pain and indignation of the people and that they therefore reject violence, which he said is a desperate outcome. “We believe that the most sensible and appropriate thing to do is to return to calm and tranquility.”
