Spanish Ambassador and students are welcomed at the BCRD

Ambassador Juan Bolívar Díaz expressed his gratitude to the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) for the support it has been providing to the activities taking place at the embassy of the Iberian country.

These are activities that foster the patriotic spirit, the integration of adolescents and young people into the society that has welcomed them, as well as promoting the ties that the new generations must maintain with their roots.” Governor Valdez Albizu stressed that the work carried out by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain, and more specifically, that led by Ambassador Juan Bolívar Díaz, “goes beyond the diplomatic, to the point of creating a precedent that is difficult to match,” he said.

He also announced the Central Bank’s intention to continue supporting its initiatives in the future, which include youth violence prevention programs, cultural activities and entrepreneurship workshops for the benefit of Dominicans living in Spain.

Ambassador Díaz expressed his gratitude for the welcome given by the Central Bank, highlighting “its great spirit of contribution to motivate young men and women of Dominican origin who wish to achieve a professional and social projection that dignifies their lives and represents the best values of the Dominican Republic in Spain.”

The students proudly presented their professional aspirations to Valdez Albizu, which they promised to pursue with honesty and a sense of excellence. The Dominican Embassy in Spain sponsors the Dominican Foundation to Prevent Youth Violence (Fundo), born out of the need for proposals that would facilitate peaceful coexistence in the most depressed neighborhoods of Madrid society in the face of the problem of youth street groups (Latino gangs), which has had a great media impact in recent years.

Juan Bolívar Díaz stressed that “thanks to the decisive support of the Central Bank, the number of serious incidents that have occurred in Spain among young people has decreased substantially, as evidenced by the fact that in the last 15 months there have been no deaths in the conflicts that usually pit gangs against each other.”

The Dominican ambassador to Spain explained that “this project generates support mechanisms for minors and young people in vulnerable conditions and their families, with a multidisciplinary team made up of psychologists, street educators and dynamic assistants.”

Currency generators and the course of inflation

The governor offered the youth a few glimpses of the Dominican Republic’s positive economic trajectory, highlighting that “we are on the path to sustained growth,” which at the end of this year will be between 5.1 and 5.5 percent, coupled with the fact that the interannual inflation is at 3.54% in July, foreign direct investment will exceed US$4.5 billion, with remittances of more than US$10.5 billion.
