SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The ruler of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, announced on Thursday that it had signed a decree to block access to the X platform (formerly Twitter) for 10 days and prevented access to the Signal messaging app.

“I have authorized Conatel (National Telecommunications Commission) to remove the social network X from Venezuela for 10 days, so that it can present its documents to this body. Days ago, Nicolas Maduroamid mass protests against the election results that declared him the winner, stated from Miraflores Palace that there was a plan to “destabilize” the country, perpetrated by Elon Musk, the United States Government and “Colombian drug trafficking.”

In front of a crowd gathered outside the palace, he lashed out at businessman Musk, who has denounced the lack of transparency in the Venezuelan electoral process and has openly mocked Ripe.

According to the Chavista representative, there is an “alliance” of the “global extreme right” that is trying to overthrow him, in collusion with Musk (his new “archenemy”), drug trafficking and the “imperialist government of the United States.”

According to Maduro, the owner of Tesla and the social network X would be behind the alleged “hacks” to the Venezuelan electoral system because, according to the Chavista, Musk wants to govern Venezuela.

The president also referred to a “plot” of “all social networks” against Venezuela,” and said that they seek to show “a parallel reality, as occurred during the coup d’état of April 2002, when the media constructed a false story about what happened,” taking away legitimacy from the protests of citizens and opponents who do not recognize the election result.
