Santo Domingo, DR.- The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) is organizing a Workshop on Perishable Products, in collaboration with the World Trade Center Miami, and with the support of the Miami International Airport, the Port of Miami, and various Federal institutions of the United States.
This important meeting seeks to promote best practices in the handling and logistics of perishable products to minimize the risk of rejection when they arrive in the United States.
The Perishables Workshop will feature the participation of various federal agencies of the United States, including the Departments of Agriculture; the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS), Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The cornerstone of the workshop is the interactive Perishable Logistics workshops that will be held in Santiago on Monday, August 19th from 8:30 am at the Gran Almirante Hotel. In these workshops, members of the Miami Dade delegation and the Federal Government will make presentations on specific topics and provide information related to export requirements and problems encountered during inspections.
In addition to the workshops, the delegation from the above-mentioned agencies will conduct guided tours of selected farms and production facilities. These visits will allow the delegates to gain insight into the various issues and challenges faced by farms exporting vegetables to Florida.
