Ministry of Housing held first draw of the year for cooperatives
The quota for 2024 is 1,500 homes, which will be awarded by lottery in two instances. In the first, held yesterday, August 8, 61 mutual aid and savings and credit cooperatives participated, totaling 1,825 homes. “Some 772 families were chosen by lottery, from 16 departments, of which half were in Montevideo,” reported the head of Housing, Raúl Lozano.
The draw was held at the headquarters of the National Housing Directorate (DINAVI) with the presence of Minister Lozano and the Undersecretary of Housing, Tabaré Hackenbruch, respectively, and the president of the National Housing Agency (ANV) Klaus Mill.
The financing quota for 2024 is 1,500 homes, according to Ministerial Resolution (RM) No. 36/2024, which establishes two annual draws with an approximate quota of 750 homes for each instance.
61 cooperatives participated in this first allocation, totalling 1,825 homes. Of these, 57 respond to the mutual aid modality (1,743 homes) and the rest to the prior savings modality (82 homes).
Lozano said that 772 houses were raffled off between mutual aid cooperatives and pre-saving cooperatives, corresponding to 16 departments. From that date, families will be called to sign the deeds and will be given a loan to carry out the construction.
The official reminded that those interested must register in advance to participate in these draws.
Melo Cooperative for Mutual Aid CO.VI.TRA.ME.SI was chosen by lottery. There are 18 families that will begin the construction process on Blanes Street between Apolinario Pérez and Miguel Barreiro.
