The community of the La Pradera neighborhood, in the municipality of Dosquebradas, is plunged into sadness and indignation following the vile murder of James, a security guard who lost his life while trying to protect the inhabitants of his neighborhood from an assault.

James Castrillón was known and respected for his dedication and commitment to the security of La Pradera, a neighborhood in the municipality of Dosquebradas, in Risaralda.
For more than three decades, he stood out for his work as a security guard, always ready to help and look after the well-being of his neighbours. A father of three children and a devoted husband, his vile murder has nevertheless left an irreparable void in his family and in the community.

The tragic murder occurred in a neighborhood restaurant, where security cameras captured the terrifying moment when a criminal arrived, threatened and robbed diners of their belongings.
However, in an act of bravery, Don James, upon noticing the robbery, lunged at the subject and after a struggle, the criminal shot him twice and fled the scene, leaving behind a scene of pain and grief.
Reactions from the Authorities
Dosquebradas Mayor Roberto Mejía has offered a reward of 10 million pesos for anyone who provides information leading to the capture of those responsible.
The governor of Risaralda, Juan Diego Patiño, has joined this initiative and has also offered another 10 million pesos. Patiño expressed his strong rejection of the acts of violence and criminality that plague the municipality, stressing the importance of justice prevailing in this case.

Likewise, the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are working hard to identify and capture the culprits.

They use security camera recordings as a key tool in their investigation. The community of La Pradera, despite the pain, remains united and collaborating with the authorities to ensure that justice is done.
A Call for Justice
The murder of Mr. James cannot go unpunished, the neighbourhood is asking. For this reason, they demand that the authorities take action to find those responsible and ensure that “they receive the punishment they deserve.”
