Judge Víctor Zúñiga called the former president to task for interrupting the reading of the resolution to try to change the ruling on the Interoceanic South case.
Former President Alejandro Toledo tried to persuade Judge Victor Zuniga Urday so that he is not given preventive detention prior to the reading of the sentence for the case Southern Interoceanic.
“I don’t have the privilege of being a lawyer, but I want you to know that in a few months I’ll be 80 years old,” he said after interrupting this last stage of the request for preventive detention.
In response, Zúñiga Urday called his attention to the fact that Toledo should not have stopped the reading to say such words, unless he had some emergency like the one that occurred on July 11, when he became ill in the middle of the hearing.
After that, the former president tried to apologize to the judge and along those lines shared the decision of the Constitutional Court that informed the INPE that Toledo should be transferred to a private clinic, at his own expense, because his rights to health and personal integrity, and to the proper motivation of administrative acts, had been violated.
“I apologize, but I want you to know that the Constitutional Court, after examining all the elements of my health, has decided that I should be transferred to a clinic to treat my cancer and heart problems. I ask this on a human level. I am an economist, not a lawyer,” he concluded.
