These are the new prices for air tickets to Bogotá after the closure of flights

In the days following the suspension of flights by INAC, airline ticket prices doubled and in some cases tripled. According to information reported by airlines and travel agencies, the adjustment is between 100% and 400%, showing an amount ranging from $400 to $800.

The suspension of flights between Venezuela and Panama, Peru and the Dominican Republic is added to the high season that implies greater demand for vacations, as the reasons why the prices of air tickets to and from Bogotá, Colombia have increased.

The number of passengers arriving directly to Venezuelan territory from the airports of Panama and the Dominican Republic had to be transferred to other destinations in Colombia (Bogotá, Cúcuta and Medellín), Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago.

However, the majority opt for the alternative offered by national and international airlines from Colombia, and this caused prices to increase significantly. In other words, supply and demand came into play, as well as the costs inherent to aeronautical operations, including insurance.

To illustrate the issue of supply and demand, it can be said that Between Panama and the Dominican Republic, 72 flight frequencies operated to Venezuela, while Colombia has 28 frequencies. to the country. This means that a good number of passengers who could take a flight from the airports of those countries will now have to take the route that best suits them, but at a higher cost.
