The trio is made up of only women, as was the case previously with the list drawn up to select the head of the Attorney General’s Office. That is to say, this would be the first time that a woman would hold the position.

According to the letter delivered to the President of the Chamber, Jaime Raúl Salamanca, the options are: Dora Lucy Arias Giraldo, Iris Marin Ortiz and Jomary Ortegón.

“I invite the candidates to submit their resume and their proposals to each of the House benches. The election will be democratic and transparent.”the head of the corporation highlighted when sharing the names of the candidates for Ombudsman.

After the presentation of the list of candidates, meetings and hearings with the parties will be held, followed by voting in this legislative cell. It should be noted that in the plenary session the Government has a majority, so the probability of the person with the nod from the Casa de Nariño being elected is higher.

The candidate who gets the approval of the House will replace Carlos Camargowho held the position until a few months ago, when he submitted his letter of resignation to become vice-chancellor of Sergio Arboleda University.
