The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, today appointed actuary Dino Mon as the new general director of the Social Security Fund (CSS). Mon has more than 25 years of experience in risk management, health insurance and pension administration, and in the transformation of insurance systems.
Mon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and a Master’s degree in Operations Research with a Specialization in Financial Optimization, both from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
He has been a pioneer in the application of statistical and predictive models using Big Data in Panama, and has led the implementation of technologies in the insurance industry.
He also holds international certifications such as supervised and unsupervised learning with applications in preventive modeling; GLM’s and their extensions, with applications in actuarial science; and Monte Carlo methods and their applications in financial, insurance and solvency models. All these certifications were obtained at the International Summer School, Lausanne, Switzerland.
In the professional field, Mon has stood out as CEO of the USAAAR Group, where he has developed innovative digital platforms for marketing and comparing personal insurance. He was the advisory actuary of the Superintendency of Insurance and Reinsurance of Panama during the development of the IFRS17 transformation project.
Mon also served as Executive President or CEO of Mapfre Panama between 2009-2018, a period in which he managed to triple the company’s equity value.
Between 2000 and 2008, Mon held various positions within the Global Group, including General Manager, Corporate Actuary, Director of Personal Insurance, Senior Actuary and Auto Reinsurance Coordinator.
