A recent study by the Red de Ciudades Cómo Vamos (RCCV) (How We Are Doing Cities Network), published by Rankia, has revealed that Barranquilla is the city with the best quality of life in Colombia.

This comprehensive analysis assessed various crucial factors in determining the well-being of citizens in different cities across the country.

Study highlights

The study, carried out in collaboration between Rankia and the RCCV, considered several key factors in its evaluation:

Economy: Barranquilla has demonstrated steady economic growth, with a favorable employment rate and a significant increase in business opportunities. Attracting investment has boosted its economic development.

Health: The city stands out for its network of high-quality hospitals and clinics, as well as for public health programs that have improved health indicators in the region.

Education: With a diverse educational offering ranging from basic education to renowned universities, Barranquilla has raised the quality of life of its citizens through education.

Living place: Improved housing conditions and widespread access to basic services such as water and electricity are notable aspects of the city.

Public space: Barranquilla has invested in the development and maintenance of parks, plazas and recreational areas, accessible to all its citizens.

Security: Although the perception of security has fluctuated, the city has implemented effective measures to reduce crime and improve coexistence.

Citizen participation: The active participation of residents in community affairs has fostered a strong sense of belonging and collective responsibility.

Pereira: second in the ranking, noted for its quality in education and health. Pereira has shown sustained development in infrastructure and public services.

Giron: Recognized for its security and public management, it has implemented effective policies to improve coexistence and reduce crime.

Zipaquira: With a high quality of housing and public spaces, it ranked fourth. The city has invested in urban planning projects that have improved the quality of life of its inhabitants.

Colombian Port: noted for its citizen participation and economy; it has encouraged citizen involvement and attracted investments that have boosted its economic development.

The study by the Cómo Vamos Cities Network and Rankia highlights Barranquilla as the leader in quality of life in Colombia, thanks to its solid performance in economy, health, education and other essential factors.

The city continues to advance and offer a favorable environment for its inhabitants, standing out in comparison to other large cities in the country.
