The Ministry of Culture (Minc) launched this Wednesday (7), in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil Criativo, a set of guidelines that will serve as a reference for the implementation of the National Creative Economy Policy. According to the ministry, the objective is to contribute to the consolidation of the creative economy as a strategy for the country’s social, economic and cultural development.
The event was attended by the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, who highlighted the importance of having an effective agenda that guides programs, projects and concrete actions focused on the dimension of creativity and culture.
In total, there are fifteen guidelines that guide the Creative Economy policy and involve the dissemination of studies, training of managers and entrepreneurs, expansion of investment, promotion of diversity and productive inclusion.
“With these guidelines, you help the sector to qualify, you directly promote producers and all activities in the creative industry, such as audiovisual, copyright, and Brazilian crafts. All of this is a workforce that drives the national GDP. Therefore, we need to create concepts that will help the development and strengthening of this industry,” said the minister.
During the event, it was also announced that Cláudia Sousa Leitão will once again lead the Ministry of Culture’s Creative Economy Secretariat. She had previously held the position between 2011 and 2013. Cláudia holds a master’s degree in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a PhD in Sociology from the Sorbonne.
