Do you know what’s better than motivation?

In these times when the preferred center of the brain to move is the reward center, in order to be successful we tend to look for motivation. Some are motivated, among other things, by being recognized as successful; others, by what they get from being successful… in both cases they are looking for a reward.

Walking towards success is almost obligatory in many societies today. Before, it was essential to survive; being able to hunt to feed the family was not a matter of choice. Today, many people are measured by the wealth they have accumulated. There are even those who are measured by the money they spend.

If we want success, there are two main paths; the first and most sought after is motivation. We look for excellent motivators that make us jump and believe that we can achieve anything we want. They charge us with energy, which will help us get… well, let’s stop there, it will help us knock down the first doors.

Motivation gives us enough energy to get moving and start knocking down walls, even if they are just the ones that support the building. Is it productive? Yes, but it doesn’t last long.

If we need someone to recharge that energy, as soon as we need them again we will realize that it was of little use. Maybe by watching a new video we can recharge something more, or by paying for an endless consultation.

Is there a better way, Diego Sosa?

For me, yes. If I get up and do what I have to do, I will get there. I say this because my experience is that I get there. And I don’t need motivation to do something. They call it discipline.

If it’s a job, I do it. If it’s a project, I do that too. Do I need a carrot to chase it? No, I just make a plan and execute it. It’s a decision. More so, because I can’t make myself dependent on someone else telling me the right words at the right time.

Do you want to achieve something? Can you discipline yourself today to do that thing that you’re having so much trouble doing and you’re not motivated to do?
