Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal, 22-time Grand Slam champion, announced on Wednesday his withdrawal from the US Opens by stating that he did not feel capable of performing at his best level.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to give my 100% this time,” Nadal posted on his social media account X.
Nadal, a four-time US Open champion, said that His next event would be at the Laver Cup in September in Berlin.
His withdrawal from the US Open (August 26-September 8) This will be his sixth absence in the last seven Grand Slam tournaments, with the sole exception of her first round exit at this year’s French Open.
“Hello everyoneI am writing to announce that I have decided not to compete in the US Open. “This year, a place where I have incredible memories,” said Nadal, 38. “I will miss the special evening sessions in New York, at Ashe.”
“Thanks to all my followersespecially the Americans. I will miss them all,” he said.
Nadal competed in the Paris Olympics at Roland Garros, where she has won 14 French Open singles titles.
The Spaniard, who won Olympic gold in singles at Beijing 2008, fell to Novak Djokovic, He eventually won the singles in the second round in Paris, and together with Carlos Alcaraz he lost in the doubles quarter-finals.
Last month in Bastad, Nadal reached his first ATP final since 2022, losing to Portuguese Nuno Borges.
Nadal’s last Grand Slam title came at the 2022 French OpenShe last won the US Open in 2019, but will now have missed four of the last five US Opens, with the exception of her fourth-round run in 2022.
