The Attorney General’s Office (PGN) through the First Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime and in conjunction with Senafront carried out Operation Millionaire in Darién in order to locate people and evidence related to an investigation into the crime of illegal migrant trafficking.

According to PGN investigations that began in July 2023, this organization, which operates in the province of Darién, traffics migrants of different nationalities, mostly Chinese, who enter from Colombia to Panama.

To date, a total of 13 people have been arrested by the First Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime and Senafront for this crime of illegal trafficking of migrants, and 8 vehicles have been located.

The First Prosecutor against Organized Crime, Emeldo Márquez, pointed out that: “The vast majority of the members of this organization have the role of mobilizing from different points in the Darién area in order to be able to take them to other points where they are mobilized and then take them out of the national territory.”
