On the third day of the anti-mining strike, citizens of the province of Huanta went to the main square of Ayacucho in search of regional governor Wildredo Oscorima, who met with them and explained the process of excluding informal mines that would be contaminating the water.

Hundreds of citizens gathered in the main square of Ayacucho, in response to the massive turnout, Wilfredo Oscorima responded to the citizens’ demands. The regional governor promised that, by August 28 of this year, he will show the documents where all types of mining activity will be suspended and at the same time, water conservation will be guaranteed throughout the province of Huanta.

He ratified the decision of the Regional Government of Ayacucho to have made arrangements with the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the National Water Authority to stop informal mining and guarantee the conservation of water resources in the headwaters of the Razuhuillca basin.
