The Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, responded to the criticism that the national government received after President Nicolás Maduro’s initiative to withdraw from the WhatsApp messaging application for being a platform that spreads hatred against social leaders and the country’s police and military family.
The Minister of Communications also published an article from the media outlet La Vanguardia on his account on the social network X, which reviews the order that the Government of France gave its ministers in November 2023 to stop using the WhatsApp platform.

In the Spanish newspaper’s article, former French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne ordered members of her government to uninstall the main messaging apps, including WhatsApp, before December 8 last year, as they were not considered sufficiently secure.
In this regard, he called for replacing them with Tchap or Olvit, two applications developed in France: “To counteract the threats arising from the use of these applications, the French company Olvit has developed an instant messaging service that guarantees the protection of its users’ data.”
In addition, TikTok cannot be installed on the phones of French officials, including members of its government. The French government has ordered its officials to uninstall the Chinese app on their devices, justifying the decision on the grounds of the security of their personal information.
