Operation Galardón has dealt a severe blow to a network of fraudsters operating from the province of Chiriquí. In a joint effort between the National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, 11 people linked to the crime Against Economic Assets in the form of scams through telephone calls were arrested.

Investigations revealed that these people made phone calls to their victims, making them believe that they had won prizes such as houses, cars, trips and money. To claim these supposed prizes, the victims had to make money transfers to cover the legal procedures.
