Teenager disappears in Santiago de Cuba: platforms ask for help

Alibenis Pérez Cisneros, adolescente cubana

AREQUIPA, Peru – Gender observatories of the feminist magazine Tense Wings (OGAT) and the Yo Sí Te Creo platform in Cuba issued a Mayde Alert this Tuesday, following the disappearance of a teenager identified as Alibenis Pérez Cisneros.

Through a publication On Facebook, independent platforms indicated that the minor is 13 years old and is from Chicharrones, in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

Alibenis Pérez Cisneros was last seen six days ago, wearing a brown skirt, a black blouse, and a green backpack with flowers. She was heading to the supply store, located in El Polvorín, in the same neighborhood as Chicharrones.

According to her family, Alibenis has “dark skin, black eyes, is 75 cm tall, and wears her hair in loose braids.”

The alert also states that the teenager has no identifiable marks, is not taking any medication and was not carrying a cell phone with her.

“If you see her, do not leave her alone. If you have any information, call the family’s contact number 55333105 (Yasmilka Marturell, neighbor) and the authorities,” the publication says.

The Cuban State does not implement any mechanism to make visible the missing persons caseseven if they are minors or elderly, such as the Amber alert used in the United States. That is why most complaints are made by members of civil society through social networks.

To report a missing person, it is recommended that family members fill out the form for missing alerts which make the search and pressure on authorities more effective.

These cards must contain the following data:

  • Full name
  • Alias
  • If a complaint has been made to the PNR, registration number/date
  • Physical description: hair color, eye color, height
  • Age
  • Identifiable marks: moles, tattoos, scars
  • Chronic diseases
  • Medication
  • Clothes worn when last seen
  • Place and date last seen
  • Place of residence
  • Telephone numbers or other contact information
  • Other data considered important for the search
