UTU School of Communication and Graphic Design celebrated 45 years of courses
“UTU had the vision of creating a journalism school in the public education system and today it has adapted to the new times,” said the president of the National Public Education Administration (ANEP), Virginia Cáceres, at the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the Higher School of Social Communication and Graphic Design. The institution, attended by more than 600 students, operates in two locations and offers eight technical courses.
The celebration, held at the UTU headquarters, was attended by the Director General of Technical Professional Education-UTU, Juan Pereyra, and the Director of the Higher School of Social Communication and Graphic Design, Alejandra López Viana, among other educational authorities, students and alumni of the school.
Cáceres praised the fact that the school has been renovated and adapted to the challenges of the world, while still maintaining the fundamental principles of training communication professionals and building citizenship.
Pereyra stressed the satisfaction of training students in interaction with the media and the support provided by the educational system for this.
“It is a school that has many graduates in the media and that will be improved in terms of buildings to enhance the capacity of education with professionals,” he said. He added that the UTU created the specialized baccalaureate in communication, which operates in technical schools in the interior of the country.
The aforementioned educational center has two independent premises and is attended by 613 students, distributed in four shifts, as well as a team made up of 109 teachers, a school secretary, five administrators, four assistants and three interns.
Two audiovisual presentations were made, one about the history of the school and another about its educational offer, which includes the technical courses in Graphic Design, Social Communication, Press, Radio, Television, Audiovisual, Advertising and Public Relations.
